    Sidebar: It’s 2018 ya’ll

Ok so January seemed like it went on forever, right? Maybe because I had a ton to do and vacation at the end of the month so it just seemed to drag. Not in a bad way, just a slow way  lol. Anyway, 2018 has been nice so far and different all at the same time. First, let me start with the nice. We celebrated NYE at a local Mexican restaurant called Adobo and it was just a really decadent dinner; filled with drinks and delicious food. Total gluttony and the perfect way to ring in a new year, imo. So that was a lot of fun. Soon after the…

    Sidebar: It’s Christmas?

In what will surprise no one, this month got away from me. Obvi you could tell because content was sloooooow around here. My bad. In my defense, I was sick for the majority of the month so that really does a number on me. The month however started incredibly well! I saw Marc Anthony in early December and he was great! I only go to see Beyonce, but my husband (who does not speak/understand Spanish) thought he’d enjoyed Marc Anthony so we decided to go. He’s such an amazing performer! So I thought I was ending the year with a bang and then I went to bed with a weird…

    Latina Lawyer Gift Guide 2017

So I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I totally use the holiday season as an excuse to buy things for myself. Wooops. Secret is out. But I can’t be the only one! In the past, I’ve shared basic/classic items that all new attorneys and law students would like–and those are all still solid choices. But, this year I thought I’d share some of the items that I have been constantly using and that translate into easy gifts for either new attorneys or law students: Statement earrings. I really love statement earrings at the moment. They aren’t too distracting–like some of my noisy statement necklaces, but add so much…

    Sidebar: Oh, I live here.

It’s December. Omgah. It’s super cliche to say that this year went by fast, but like hoooow fast. We’re like propelling into nuclear war faster than I imagined. Oh, what am I the only one with the gnawing dread that our demise is upon us because we’re being held hostage by deranged lunatics beholden only to profits? I don’t think it’s just me. So yes, many times a day I have to check myself and push back the fear that is our new reality and pretend everything is ok. I stumbled upon this SNL skit and realized that I want to be the fry guys. Total obliviousness seems nice. OK…

    Sidebar: Moving Day

Um, October was a whirlwind. We moved. Finally. It has been a long time coming but we have finally moved house. Whilst events leading up to this have been very stressful, I’m very excited for this next chapter in our lives. We do have a lot of things left to sort out though before we can finally call our house a home. So this has basically taken up all of my time. We were told that the house would be ready in a week, so we had to pack and get ready super fast. The house is amazing. Honestly, I could have moved anywhere because I had a lot of…

Sidebar: Is the World Ending? asking for a friend.

Wow. What a weird month. I have family in Tampa and prayed to Cristo Negro that they’d be safe. Thankfully they made it through, but then the horror in Mexico City, then more hurricanes–it’s too much. On top of all the political garbage… I avoid a lot of news and politics now because I know I can’t consume this horror in such a big scale. It’s too much. But I’m doing what little I can to help with DACA and the hurricanes aftermath. Ok, thankfully, not everything was horrible. Though, now that I think about it, it is kind of comical–E and I tried to celebrate the end of summer…

    Sidebar: love and hate

August is over. That means summer is over fr fr. But I guess Summer 17 ended with a bang? I mean, how do we get over what happened in Virginia? Wait, let me back up so this month my cousin returned to Florida to start her fall semester and I miss her so much!! 🙁 She left the weekend of E’s birthday, so we did some mini farewell/bday meals before she left.       Of course, the day after E’s bday we woke up to the protest in Virginia and it really shook me. Not because I don’t think the country is racist (it is) but because how impossible…

    Side Bar: At the Beach

So full disclosure—I had hoped to make the sidebar post more visual (i.e. video format) but that will have to wait until I move in the summer because the way my current house is set up, the acoustics are just turrible. Turrible. Anyway, June went by hella fast. Probably because I went on a much needed vacation! Like obviously seeing my dad and his family was great, but the sun! Omg, it was much needed. So let’s just start with that—Panama was beautiful. I really recommend it as a vacation destination. I spent some time in city and in smaller parts of the country. Staying at my dad’s place is…

    Sidebar: Roller Coaster

It’s already May! Like yes, you know that, but still April basically vanished. It was crazy busy for me. Mostly because I started the month thinking I was going to have to file a ton of cases because of an immigration form update, but thankfully, there’s a delay on that so work is back to normal. But more importantly, the beginning of the month, I went to a great event that was so re-energizing and purposeful. It was a get together of amazing woke women and it was amazing. There were so many random and happy connections that I knew this empowerment group was made to be. I left with…

    Sidebar: Good Riddance 2016

Ok first, major apologies for the dead air for the past few days! I had a plan and then got sick (which, don’t worry, I’ll definitely talk about in the next few paragraphs lol and that ruined everything–but on to the post:  I guess I can say December was better than November because nothing (hopefully) can top November 9th, but that’s not saying much. Ok let me not be negative. A lot of good things happened this month– At work, I was promoted to senior attorney, which is maj. I’m actually really happy about that because, as nerdy as it sounds, I’ve wanted to make senior since I first heard…
