Gift Guide for New Attorneys

I love seeing all the status updates on people being sworn-in during this time of the year!  Being admitted to the Bar is always such a special moment, and for us Latinas it’s a hard-won prize.  It’s important to celebrate this milestone and if you have a new attorney in your life (or even one that has been practicing for a few years) the holidays are a perfect time to acknowledge this accomplishment!

  1.  Business Card Holder.  A very necessary tool for networking, and a card holder is the best way to keep your cards nice and clean.

  2. Giftcards.  Yes, the new attorney may be starting their journey as a young legal professional, but let’s not forget most of us still got a thing called “student loans” that won’t let us frequent the coffee shops as much as we’d like.

  3. Frames.  Eventually the new attorney will need to decorate their home away from home.  Frames with bold prints in neutral colors are modern looking, yet understated– a perfect fit for a law office and a great way to show personality while still looking professional.

  4. Duster Sweater.  Life in an office = battling the crazy office temperatures, and even the most hot blooded attorney gets chilly during the winter.  A nice professional cardigan/sweater will come in handy when it’s cold (this includes the summer when the AC is on full blast).

  5.  Pen Set.   For most, pens aren’t anything special, but lawyers sign their name to so many things almost every day, so we have a special relationship with this writing tool.  A beautifully styled pen can commemorate the new attorney’s accomplishment and be something they keep for a very long time.  You can get something modern looking (like this blue seven-year pen) or go for more traditional fountain pen set if you want a more classic look.

  6. DIY Emergency Kit.  For those that want to give a hand-made gift, consider purchasing a nice canvas makeup tote and filling it with our recommended products for office “emergencies.”  It’s a nice personal gift, and it will definitely come in handy to the new attorney.

  7.  Coffee Mugs.  These are such a great gift because they are versatile.  They can be used for drinking (duh) or as decor.  Legally themed is always nice!  The PBS mug is kind of neat–it has names of famous cases and as it heats up the losers disappear.  Or for the sassy new esquire, you can’t go wrong with the Notorious RBG.

What else would you get a new attorney for the holidays?
