Gift Guide: Pre-Law to Attorneys

This gift guide is a little more inclusive and also my favorite because it’s less about practicality and more about inspiration.  Can I just say that 1) I have loved discovering new Latina-owned businesses online? Latinas are increasingly more likely to start their own small businesses and the things I see online make it obvious why–such good products!  And 2) it is crazy how adding a few touches of motivation can really inspire you to do work.

This gift guide are items that I have found to be inspiring and that I think other Latinas in the Law, whether pre-law or seasoned attorneys, will appreciate.

  1. Kick-ass Tees. I paired up with Fem Chic Apparel this year on Instagram and love their collections. They are super cute and the graphics are really bold (I would have totally rocked a Tacos before Nacos in college!)
  2. Patron Saint of Latinas in Law (aka Sonia Sotomayor’s biography). This is a must-read for any Latina pursuing a career in the law. There is such a feeling of connection and snippets of guidance that inspire you to strive for more.
  3. Si Se Puede. On my wish-list is this bracelet from Mano y Metal.  The metal bracelets look  industrial, which I like because it connotes a strength that you need for a phrase like Si Se Puede. There are other options, but I can see someone at their wit’s end during bar prep and seeing this bit of support to help them over the hump.
  4. Activist Art.  These posters by Robert Valadez are incredible. The are vibrant, beautifully done, and the symbolism is great. No Manches Clothing Company also has really awesome Tees to consider.
  5. Notorious RBG.  Obviously not Latina lol but the work she has done for equality under the law is beyond compare and this book does such a great job keeping her story fun, fresh, and inspires us to keep doing more work.
  6. Name Plate. Name necklaces became really trendy a few years ago, but Latinos know that having personalized items has always been a thing. Mala by Patty Rodriguez has awesome pieces that goes beyond names.

What other companies have you discovered this year?!
