Must Have School Supplies for Law School
Ok so all the summer students have left the building and I am super sad that it’s back to business as usual—meaning, I’m the one in charge of all the business. So sad to not have anyone to help out here and there… But the end of summer also means that I get to stock up on school supplies! I know, I don’t technically need them as my agency provides basics but I so much prefer to have my own things, you know? Since the new semester is starting, I thought I’d share some must-have school supplies. I’m trying to not be obvious about it because like duh we all…

Easy Summer Salads!
As I do most of the cooking at home my main goal is to find easy but filling options–because I like cooking, but don’t want to spend a ton of time doing it. Now that it’s getting hot (and my new house has no central air–wah!!) I am definitely planning of adding more salad to my meal-planning rotation. Summer salads. They are my fave. Here are some of my go-to options that I’m already looking forward to eating in the hot months ahead: Greek Salad. I have this like almost every week. It’s so good and so simple! You can make it without chicken and it’s just as filling. I really…

Juicing: Easy Green Juice Breakfast Options
I’ve mentioned before how I used to not eat breakfast for like ever–I just was never hungry in the mornings, but that’s like the worst thing to do. A few years ago I started making smoothies, which were filling but still filled with lots of sugar due to the flavored yogurt and bananas. Then about a year ago, friends and I did a cleanse together that was more to just do something together. The cleanse consisted of green juice in the morning and I became a convert. Many think that in order to juice you have to use a juicer, but I think it’s better to use a blender so…

Brain Food: Easy Lunch Options for Law Students
Happy Labor Day! I wish I was on a beach, but I’m actually getting a head start on work. womp womp. I was talking to a friend recently about all my missteps in law school and one of them (as I’ve mentioned before) is how bonkers my eating habits became. My school was located right near Michigan Ave, so it was full of so many dining options that it became easier to just purchase lunch rather than make something every day. Of course, I thought I was being smart by getting tuna sandwiches (brain food, right? lolol) completely ignoring the fact that it was laden with mayo, like wtf was…

Healthy & Easy Coffee Alternatives
No I’m not crazy—I’m very certain everyone in law school will have/has increased their caffeine and sugar intake during school. I’m not really anti-coffee. Coffee by itself has a lot of benefits, but if you’re like me—it’s not the coffee but the sugar and cream that makes it unhealthy. I also try to limit my coffee-intake because I don’t like being the type of person that can’t function without some type of substance. I have enough vices and don’t need to add one more, you know? In the last year, I felt like I was drinking (and buying) too much sugary coffee and decided to stop what…

Gift Guide for College Pre-Law Graduates
Happy Cinco de Cuatro! Lately, I’ve been starting my days in a much happier tone, and I think that’s because now that it’s getting warmer, I’m actually getting a sliver of real sunlight streaming into my office window. Like actual sun. I felt it streaming in the other day and was like, what is this?! Now I’m happy to actually feel sunbeams for a couple of minutes every day #itsthelittlethings. But speaking of things that make me happy: graduations! My family is celebrating a graduate in a couple of weeks and I’m so excited for her! Unique personalized gifts designed with some of our best memories are something I’m considering…

Gift Guide for Law School Graduates
Graduation ceremonies are around the corner! It’s always so exciting–the Bar is already looming overhead, which can make things tense, but earning a J.D. (and wow, do we earn it!) is an incredible accomplishment! I still remember my graduation very fondly and was so blown away and grateful by how proud my family and friends were of me. And because my love language is gifts–I was also very happy to receive presents as well. Quite a few items, like my card holder, continue to be things I reach for all the time. If you are planning to give a gift to a law grad, the best options are almost always…

Veggie Quesadillas: Simple & Quick
When my husband and I married we were both kind of unsure about how we would handle dinner. Neither of us were particularly good cooks, and I had so many evening classes that for our first year of marriage we kind of just did our own dinner thing. After I graduated, I had three months of unemployment after the Bar and so I randomly decided that dinner would now be my thing. Surprisingly, it turned out that I was a pretty good cook. It’s so funny how you can have talent for certain skills and you won’t know how good you are until you try–thats a subtle reminder for myself…

Quick and Healthy Breakfast Options
I’m one of those odd people that don’t really enjoy breakfast food. I know–I’m a freak. I just have more of a salt tooth than sweet and most American style breakfasts are so heavy on the sweet. Also, around the time I turned 16 I stopped eating breakfast (and hello, all of Freshman year in high school I stopped eating lunch–I was the epitome of healthy eating). I eventually starting eating lunch and dinner, but never got back on track with eating breakfast. I was a two-meal-a-day (plus snacks) person for the majority of my life. It wasn’t until law school graduation, when I started seriously reviewing my unhealthy eating…

Seedy Energy Salad
We talk a lot about trying to eat healthy and try to occasionally share quick and healthy recipes for everyone to try. One thing that’s difficult (for me) in my attempt to eat healthy is what to bring for lunch at work. I tend to go in cycles, but always seem end up back at salads. Lately, I’ve been craving nutty, seedy salads and today’s recipe really satisfies this craving. It is filling even without meat, but I keep tuna packets at work and usually add it to the mix. However, I’ve also eaten it without tuna and it keeps me just as full and satisfied throughout the day. Mostly, it’s…
